Volunteers Sought for Asthma Survey

Quality of Life Asthma Survey

If you are an adult (aged 18 and over) living in the UK with asthma would you be interested in taking part in a survey on asthma?

The survey is being undertaken by Galen Research an independent research company that specialises in the development of questionnaires that assess how illness affects a person’s quality of life. Last year Galen interviewed people with asthma and people with COPD to ascertain their perspective on how the condition affects them and their quality of life. They developed questionnaires based on the interviews and now need to test them with relevant patients to see if they provide valid and reliable information. The final questionnaires will be freely available to the NHS and will be used to determine how effective treatments for these conditions are.

Volunteers would be required to complete the questionnaires in a postal survey on two occasions. The questionnaires will be posted out to the volunteer together with a reply-paid envelope for their return. The questionnaires ask about symptoms and how asthma affect patient’s lives. They take about 20 minutes to complete.

All information that participants provide is anonymous and treated as strictly confidential. Address details of participants would not be kept after the postal survey has been completed. The survey is being done in collaboration with Peterborough NHS Trust.
